Cynthia Surette receives RBC Global Citizen Award

“I am honoured to have earned the RBC Global Citizen Award. This award recognizes those who go the extra distance to help our communities prosper.
I have been actively engaged in the Rotary Club of Napanee since 2011 and have helped our Accessible Rotary Park and Rotary Youth Exchange come to life. It has been my pleasure to facilitate the participation of many local students in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards over the years.
Volunteering has been a lifelong passion of mine. Prior to residing in Greater Napanee, I was involved with Amnesty International Canada for over twenty years, humanitarian trips to Haiti and the Smile Team of Kingston in 2014. At work, I volunteer with RBC Future Launch as a Champion and Facilitator for workshops that help young Canadians prepare for a drastically changing workforce.
As part of this recognition, RBC has donated $5,000 to be given to a charity of my choice. Having been involved in various fundraising efforts in my community, I know the importance of these funds. I have chosen to donate to the No Poverty 180° Fund of the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington. Through volunteering, I am always looking to create positive social change. I know that this donation will help this critical organization do just that.” explains Cynthia Surette, RBC Senior Commercial Account Manager.
Bob Childs, Executive Director for the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington states, “We are thrilled to be receiving RBC’s $5000 gift that recognizes Cynthia’s exceptional commitment to her communities. This donation is a boost for our No Poverty 180° Fund which will soon be making annual charitable grants to local projects aimed at reducing and eliminating the impact of poverty in our communities.”
