Endowment Funds with the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington

This list provides the history, purpose and nature of our funds. For your convenience links for instant online donations are provided. When you give a little, your community gains a lot. Since our inception in 1987, the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington has granted over $1,000,000.00 in grants to community projects, scholarships and bursaries.

 

  • Barry Roantree Emerging Fund – Established in 2018 in memory of Barry Roantree, this fund, when it matures, will make annual grants in support of the Foundation’s charitable objects.



  • Bruce Medd Environmental Fund – Established in 2009 to honour Bruce Medd who passed away on June 25, 2005 at the age of 101. Bruce Medd was a long standing member, (72 years), of the Napanee Golf and Country Club. The fund was established through proceeds from the Annual Bruce Medd Invitational Golf Tournament that was established in his honour. The purpose of the fund is to support environmental opportunities.



  • Camden East Women’s Institute Scholarship Fund – Established in 2006, this fund will provide an annual scholarship for a Napanee District Secondary School student to attend a community college as follows: this student should be a resident of Camden East Ward #1 / Newburgh Ward #2 areas and awarded based upon criteria set out by the Camden East Women’s Institute.

  • The Charlotte Uens Education Fund – Established in 2009 in order to provide annual scholarships to graduates of Napanee District Secondary School for their post secondary education in such manner and as such times as the Community Foundation for Lennox and Addington determines.

  • Cloyne and District Historical Society Endowment Fund – Established in 2006 in order to provide annual funding to the Society whose mandate is to preserve and record the history of the local area and to share that knowledge with the public.



  • The Doornekamp Family Emerging Fund – Established in 2018, the Doornekamp Family Emerging Fund celebrates the memory of Renske and Hendrick Doornekamp. When the fund matures, grants for community improvement initiatives will be made on an annual basis in perpetuity.



  • The Dorothy Fretts Memorial Fund – Established in 2017 in celebration of the life of Dorothy Fretts, funds are allocated on a rotating basis to the Residents’ Council of the following Nursing Homes, Friendly Manor Nursing Home, Village Green Long Term Care Facility.



  • Dorothy Grace Bell Fund – Established in 2012, the purpose of the Dorothy Grace Bell Fund is to provide support for children and youth intiatives.

  • The Ernestown Wind Park Scholastic Fund – Established in 2014 this fund provides financial support for the advancement of primary, secondary and post-secondary education within Lennox and Addington County that raises awareness and understanding of the role of renewable energy in Canada’s economic, social and environmental future and equips our future leaders with the critica; thinking and technical skills for successful participation in the Green Energy Sector.

  • Friends of the Foundation Fund – Begun in 2005, this fundraising endeavor is a General Community Fund that supports all the charitable objects of the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington.

  • Napanee District General Community Fund – The purpose of this fund is to advance the charitable objects of the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington throughout the region.

  • Goodyear Scholarship Fund – Established in 2002 to provide an annual scholarship to a graduating high school student for the purpose of post secondary education and training in technical education.

  • The Hogarth Family Fund – Established in 1987, to honour the memory and community contributions of Edgar Hogarth, this fund is the inaugural endowment fund for the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington. (Our Foundation was originally established as the Napanee District Charitable Foundation, evolved to become the Napanee District Community Foundation and is presently the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington.) Guided by Murray and Don Hogarth, the Hogarth family has generously added to this fund over the years and the Hogarth family continues to be very active in contributing to and supporting the Foundation. From the beginning the Hogarth Family Fund has developed and supported every charitable object of the Foundation.



  • The Lennox & Addington Historical Society Fund – Established in 2018, the purpose of this fund is to provide annual disbursements in support of the Society.



  • L&A Stewardship Fund – Established in 2013, this donor-advised fund will be to support charitable activities and organizations whose activities: promote responsible land care and stewardship of our natural environment, identify and develop ways of meeting the stewardship needs of our community, bring together those interested in promoting stewardship ethic, including scholarships and bursaries, and gather and share information in the community regarding stewardship and land care.

  • Lloyd Seeley Family Scholarship Fund – Established in 2007, this fund provides an annual scholarship for a Prince Edward Collegiate Secondary graduate to attend a community college, college or university as follows: this student should be a resident of Prince Edward County and awarded in accordance with the criteria and guidelines set out by the Seeley Family.

  • Mazinaw Community Fund – Established in 2006, the Mazinaw Community Fund is a donor directed fund that grants to community charitable projects in the catchment area for the North Addington Education Centre in Cloyne. The secondary geographical centre being served is an area serviced by the Municipality of North Frontenac Road 506, east from Highway 41 to and including the Hamlet of Ompah.

  • McDowall Cemetery Fund – Established in 2016, this donor directed fund provides annual grant contributions for the care and maintenance of the McDowall Memorial Cemetery in South Fredericksburgh.

  • McKeown and Wood Fund – Established in 2006, this fund designates annual grants that support community charitable projects in the arts.

  • NDCF Operations Endowment Fund – Established in 2004, this fund distributes funds for operating support or other charitable purposes as the Foundation’s Board of Directors deems necessary or desireable to further its objectives and purposes.

  • 100th Anniversary Social Work Scholarship Fund – Established in 2002, this fund annually provides a scholarship to a high school graduating resident of Lennox and Addington County who has been accepted into a social work program (BSW MSW) at a Canadian University.

  • Ontario Endowment for Children and Youth in Recreation Fund – Established in 2000, this fund annually distributes grants to qualified donees encouraging broadly-based participation in healthy and safe physical activity and recreation in the region.

  • Ontario Endowment for Children and Youth Fund – This fund makes annual grants in support of the Foundation’s charitable objects.

  • Pioneer Petroleums Fund – Established in 2010 through a grant from the Pioneer Petroleums Children’s Foundation Fund of the Hamilton Community Fund, annual disbursements are made in accordance with the charitable objects of the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington.

  • The Richard Dickson and Terry Gray Memorial Fund – Established by the Napanee Sports Association in 2017 in memory of Richard Dickson and Terry Gray, this fund annually provides a scholarship/bursary to a graduating secondary school student.

  • Streek Family Fund – Established in 2013, the Streek Family Fund makes annual contributions to the Frank Streek Scholarship Fund administered by Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac Lennox and Addington.

  • Sutton Fund – Established in 2014, this fund annually distributes grants to advance the Foundation’s charitable objects.

  • Sylvia Clark Mills Community Artists Education Fund – Established in 2019 in memory of Sylvia Clark Mills, this fund will make annual disbursements in support of members of the community, regardless of age, who wish to advance their knowledge and skills in and through the arts as individuals or formally organized groups, (excluding publicly funded groups, programming routinely delivered by school boards and professionals). Project examples may include: inviting workshop leaders from outside the community as guest instructors/directors for future performances, attendance/participation in professional development conferences that occur outside of the region, purchase of specialized materials to support community groups with the acquisition of art supplies, drama resources, sheet music, etc.



  • Harry and June Thompson Memorial Fund – Established in 2016, this community fund makes annual disbursements in support of the Foundation’s charitable objects.

  • Tom Thompson Music Fund – This donor advised fund makes annual disbursements to charitable projects in support of music and the arts.

  • The Town of Greater Napanee Fund – Established in 2018 this fund makes annual disbursements in support of the Foundation’s charitable objects within The Town of Greater Napanee.

  • The Wartman Fund – Established in 2004, in memory of Robert Warman, The Wartman Fund exists to advance community health, education and other vital interests throughout Lennox and Addington County.



  • Harold and Phil Webster Fund – Established by an initial gift in 2006, this fund makes annual grants in alternate years to Seniors Outreach Services (Napanee) in the name of Phillipa Webster and the Rotary Club of Napanee in the name of Harold Webster

  • Werk Poole Student Bursary Fund – Established in 2004, this fund annually disburses a bursary to a graduating secondary school student, resident of Lennox and Addington County, who has been accepted into a Leadership Training Program.

  • Whitehead Fund – This donor advised fund produces annual grants in support of charitable projects dealing with seniors, education, or health.
